Was ist Sabily?

Sabily ist ein Betriebssystem Vergleichbar mit MS Windows oder Mac OS X. Ohne ein Betriebssystem ist ein Computer nutzlos!

Ich habe bereits Windows, warum sollte ich Sabily benutzen?
Weil Sabily kostenlos ist, eine Softwaresammlung beinhaltet die es einem ermöglicht alle möglichen Alltagsaufgaben zu lösen und an die Bedürfnisse der Muslime angepasst ist.

Es müsste doch ein schrecklich hoher Aufwand sein ein an der Entwicklung eines Betriebssystems zu arbeiten?
Natürlich ist das kein Betriebsystem welches von grundauf neu entwickelt wurde. Als Basis für Sabily kommt das Betriebsystem Ubuntu zum einsatz. Ubuntu ist eine GNU/Linux Distribution welche die Ziele einer einfache Bedienung, aktueller Software, Stabilität und kostenfreie erwerb ihren Nutzern zur Verfügung stellt, auch für Unternehmen. Sabily passt das Ubuntu an in dem es vorhandene Software löscht, umändert oder weitere hinzufügt und eine für Muslime anpasstes aussehen mitbringt.

Wird Sabily von einem Unternehmen ähnlich Microsoft entwickelt?
Nein, es ist nur eine community (zusammenschluss) von Freiwilligen welche auf der ganzen Welt verteilt sind (Frankreich, Tunesien, Ägypten, Deutschland, Indonesien, etc.). Du kannst ebenfalls dieser community als Entwickler, Grafikdesigner, Übersetzer oder auch als Ideengeber beitreten in dem du deine Ideen mit uns teilst um Sabily ein Stück weiter voranzubringen.

Was sind die Hauptmerkmale von Sabily?
Die Hauptmerkmale sind die Software: Zekr und Mus-haf Othman (Software umd den Koran zu studieren), Minbar und Firefox-praytimes (Zeigt die Gebetszeiten im Webbrowser an), Monajat (eine Anwendung welche Duas nach einer definierten Zeit auf dem Bildschirm einblendet), Hijra (islamischer Kalender) und WebStrict (filtert unislamische Inhalte aus dem Internet). Die arabische Sprache wird ebenfalls sehr gut Unterstützt. Und natürlich das graphische Design welches angepasst wurde und wie auf diesen Aufnahmen zusehen ist aussieht.

What other software are included in Sabily?
OpenOffice (word processor, spreasheet, presentation), Firefox (web browser), Pidgin (instant messaging), F-spot (photos management), Gimp (image manipulation program) and other multimedia software (video/audio). All of this in included in the "small" version of Sabily, but the "full" version contains dozens of other software! (educational software, tools and entire Quran recitations, see the full list here)

Sabily seems very interesting, what should I do to use it?
You have to download the ISO file and to burn it on a DVD, then to start your computer from the DVD. You will have the choice to test or to install the system. In a first time we advise you to test it because it is safe for your computer, nothing will be written on your hard disk. You can even test Sabily directly from Windows, by using a Virtual Box image.
